ANGRA ～ Rebirth
最大の驚きは、曲の良さと同時に、後任ヴォーカリスト、エドゥ・ファラスキの上手さでしょう。「こんな人、良く見つけたね」と思いました。初めてジェイムズ・ラブリエの声を聞いたときと同じ感動でした。短い導入に続いて実質１曲目となる②「Nova Era」、続く③「Millenium Sun」、怒涛の④「Acid Rain」……、どれをとってもヴォーカルの上手さが際立っています。
特に、⑨「Running Alone」は、曲、演奏、歌詞、どれをとっても感動を禁じえない名曲ではないでしょうか。苦難を乗り越えたキコとラファエルの、ポジティヴな曲です。バンド分裂後、決してあきらめることなく、孤独に走っていたときに書き上げ、エドゥ採用時に課題曲とされた後、こうして『Rebirth』にて華々しく公開されるとは、何ともドラマを感じます。

また、特筆すべきは日本盤ボーナストラックの⑪「Bleeding Heart」、こんな良い曲がどうしてボーナストラックなのか、と首を傾げたくなります。これがレコード会社の戦略だとすると、何ともさびしい話です。
しかしこのアルバム、普通にメタルファンなら大絶賛して当然ですよね？次の『Temple of Shadows』と共に。
